SEG’s restocking initiatives on the Parrett and Severn continue apace – and the media coverage continues!
This morning’s Daily Telegraph has a big feature on the current abundance of elvers in the west country, and includes a leader column supporting our work.
Since we announced on 30 March in the Independent on Sunday that we were aiming to smash last year’s record of relocating 1 million fish, we have caught and re-homed 2.05 million fish – all thanks to the great efforts and generosity of the elvermen and glass eel collectors.
We’ve also had terrific support from other media including Farming Today, The Today Programme, The Guardian, Fish2Fork, BBC Points West, ITV Westcountry, Western Morning News, Western Daily Press and even a radio station in Russia!
See below for a full round-up of how our story has been told so far.
With two big sets of tides left for this season, we’d like to again thank everyone who has helped us, and we’ll announce the final total of restocked fish in mid May.
Keep watching our Twitter and Facebook pages for all the details.
