Brussels, 20 November 2023. The Sustainable Eel Group announces the publication of its new standard version 7.0.

The standard is a voluntary certification scheme for a Best Practice Code of Conduct for a Responsible Eel Sector for fishing and trade in the European eel.

The standard has undergone a full review in 2023 and has incorporated many views from a wide range of stakeholders from each environmental, social and economic interests, in order to further improve the standard.

The SEG Standard version 7 is available and valid from now, 20 November 2023, and will be published fully in January 2024 to include Dutch, French, German and Spanish translations.

Transition arrangements for existing certificate holders are described in the standard. Anyone interested applying and any queries should be made to:  standard@sustainableeelgroup.org.
