“There are fears that smugglers might target baby eels on the River Severn after the UK Border Force uncovered the first large incident of smuggling. The authorities found 200 kilograms of baby eels – or elvers – at Heathrow Airport. They were being illegally transported to Hong Kong where they could have sold for up to £1.3m.”
