According to Spanish Newspaper El Pais, the Spanish company Angulas y Mariscos Roset from Tarragona in Spain operated the trade network with partners near Athens airport in Greece. The investigators were able to trace the eels from the Spanish Guadalquivir river to Hong Kong/China and arrested people 8 from Tarragona, Valencia and Coria del Río (Seville). 9 arrestments in Greece supposingly included a scientist who adviced administrations on conservation purposes.
